In Kenya, where approximately 36% of the population lives below the poverty line and women account for the majority of the informal workforce, supporting female entrepreneurs can create lasting change. Many women in rural areas strive to build small businesses—such as fruit stands, handmade jewelry, and tailoring services—not only to sustain their families but to uplift entire communities. By donating to programs that support these women, you are not just giving aid; you are investing in their potential to become self-sufficient leaders and role models for future generations. In addition, supporting orphanages in Kenya directly addresses the needs of vulnerable children who often lack access to education, nutrition, and safe housing. About New Dawn Academy​ New Dawn Academy in Uganda is dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children by providing comprehensive education and essential support services. Recognizing that many students face significant challenges, the academy offers sponsorship programs that cover school fees, uniforms, and supplies, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their educational journey. Beyond academics, New Dawn Academy emphasizes holistic development, nurturing each child's intellectual, emotional, and social growth. Why Does It Exist?​ Understanding that education alone is not sufficient, the academy extends its support to meet the basic needs of its students. This includes access to healthcare services, addressing medical concerns that might otherwise impede a child's ability to learn and thrive. Regular home visits by social workers further ensure that students are living in safe and supportive environments, allowing for timely intervention when challenges arise. Uganda, home to over 47 million people, has a large youth population, with nearly 45% under the age of 15. Among them are an estimated 2.5 million orphans, many of whom have spent time in institutional care. When these children age out of orphanages—often at 18—they face major challenges like poverty, homelessness, and limited access to education. Without support, these youth are at high risk of unemployment and exploitation. Scholarship programs tailored for children leaving orphanages can provide crucial opportunities for education, vocational training, and mentorship. With less than 25% of Ugandan youth enrolled in secondary school, expanding such programs is essential to helping vulnerable youth build stable, independent futures.
