Uganda, home to over 47 million people, has a large youth population, with nearly 45% under the age of 15. Among them are an estimated 2.5 million orphans, many of whom have spent time in institutional care. When these children age out of orphanages—often at 18—they face major challenges like poverty, homelessness, and limited access to education.

Scholarship programs tailored for children leaving orphanages can provide crucial opportunities for education, vocational training, and mentorship. With less than 25% of Ugandan youth enrolled in secondary school, expanding such programs is essential to helping vulnerable youth build stable, independent futures.
